The state of health of our plants

The activity of checking the health of our vineyards continues throughout the winter season. Researchers at the University of Milan carry out periodic checks on the vigor of the vine and on the quality of the grapes.

The collection of field data is conducted in all five experimental vineyards and is focused on verifying the weight of the wood in pruning shoots. This information is useful for the calculation of the Ravaz index which is a good indicator of the vegetal productive balance of the vine.

The experimental plan provides for the comparison between different types of organic fertilization (compost, manure, separate solid digestate) with or without landfill and an unfertilised witness treatment (not worked and processed). These data, besides giving practical information to winemakers, are also useful for the scientific world to implement the bibliography on these topics.
