Launch day of LIFE VITISOM project

Università degli Studi di Milano, Dipartimento di Scienze Agrarie e Ambientali

Milan, October 14, 2016

At the start the project VITISOM LIFE (LIFE15 ENV / IT / 000392) involving major research organizations and production companies at the national level: achieving a more sustainable approach to the management of vineyard, this is the mission of the project. The main objective is to demonstrate the validity, through field tests and specific monitoring of a new technology that can improve, at local and European level, the quality of the vineyards in terms of soil structure, organic matter content and biodiversity.

The implementation of variable rate system (VRT) is in fact totally innovative for organic fertilization of the vineyard. This will face erosion and the decline of organic matter in the soil, increasing its fertility and the quality of production and leading to a reduced use of resources.

The day was divided into two sessions, the first managerial character was coordinated by Leonardo Valenti, scientific coordinator, who has started the work by defining the project's governance system. The latter will be made up of three bodies, the Project Management Staff, responsible and scientific coordination of the activities, the Administrative and Financial Staff, responsible for economic and financial management, and finally, the Dissemination Committee, in charge of communications activities and enhancement of the objectives and results of the project.

The second scientific-technical session focused on the definition of the operational plan of the project, the definition of responsibilities and roles of each partner, procedures and methods to ensure the smooth running of activities.
